      Larimer County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services crews were called to assist the Wellington Fire Department today on a grass fire in the area of Vesta Lane and County Road 9. The fire was reported at approximately noon today.  Poudre Fire Authority was also called to assist. The grass fire burned approximately 650 acres and is currently about 90% contained. Denver, Colo. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the Four Mile Canyon Fire in Boulder County. The fire is burning on state and private land in the Gold Hill area. FEMA approved Colorado's request for a federal Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) at 4:20 p.m. MDT. BFPD responded to a reported vehicle fire on Interstate 25 southbound lanes @ mile marker 253.   Wildland Fires Several newspaper articles and anonymous comments in "RH Line" of the Reporter Herald regarding the Round Mountain Fire in the Big Thompson Canyon prompt me to write this. It is obvious that the sheriff's role and responsibility for wildland fire suppression is generally not understood. Fire operations continue at Round Mountain

Estes Park, Colo. – Fire operations continued today on the Round Mountain Fire that is burning on the Canyon Lake Ranger District of the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest. The fire was declared 100 percent contained at 8:00 p.m. on June 27th. Three Type II crews continue to patrol the fire and mop-up any remaining hot spots.
