Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 BFPD assisted with a medical call on Welch Ave. for a patient complaining of difficulty breathing and dizziness. The patient was transported. BFPD responded to a citizen assist for a residence on Redwood Circle. There was concern of a possible chemical leak. Nothing was found. Monday, Nov.  17 The staff at the wastewater treatment plant reported damage to the gate, apparently the result of criminal mischief over the weekend. A Berthoud High School student was at school under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and charged with underage consumption of ethyl alcohol.   Tuesday, Nov.  18 Police found an abandoned motorcycle on Longview Ave. at approximately 10:30 p.m. The cycle was registered to an owner nearby on South Ninth St. No one responded to ... Wednesday, Nov. 5 On an otherwise quiet day the Berthoud Police made eight traffic stops   Thursday, Nov. 6 Police were asked to assist in finding the owner of a truck that had apparently been stolen and was found in Adams County. A few hours later the owner called saying he had responded to a call from Adams County, but they had no record of his truck.   Betty Griffin Kennedy Betty Griffin Kennedy died Nov. 6, 2008 at the Medical Center of the Rockies.  She was born July 14, 1945 in Tulsa, Okla., the child of William E. Fletcher and Betty Fletcher. She attended elementary and preparatory school in Tulsa. When she was nine years old, her father, an avid horseman and a member of the Tulsa Shrine Mounted Patrol, introduced her to her first horse, Friday. From then on, horses became her lifelong passion. 'Shop of Horrors' Draws Rave Reviews

The Berthoud High School musical, “The Little Shop of Horrors” was a tremendous success with over 800 people attending the four performances. Cast members’ stellar performances kept audiences laughing and applauding throughout the show and the musical abilities of the young people were remarkable. First Medallion Set in Place

A creative addition to the downtown streetscape project, the first medallion is now in place at the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Second Street. One of 14 medallions to be placed in the bulb-outs along the street, they will be surrounded by colored concrete when work is completed on them. The medallion design created by artist Rafe Ropek was inspired by former Berthoud blacksmith A.G. Bimson whose building is now used as the Little Thompson Valley Museum. Police Beat — Nov. 6, 2008

Tuesday, Oct. 28 Police stopped a car shortly before 1 a.m. for running a stop sign. The driver was intoxicated and refused to take the tests. He was taken into custody without incident, but kicked the officer in the chest while he was buckling the offender’s seat belt and left a footprint on his uniform shirt. Susan A. Rupp, 49, of LaPorte, Colorado, died Friday, July 4, 2008, due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident near Durango, Colo.
