ALAMOSA—Alamosa resident Ethel Lukow, 86, loving mother and grandmother, was born November 26, 1925 to Harm and Amelia Johnson, Jr. in Ayr, Nebraska.
She married Oris Lukow on November 17, 1946.
She is survived by six of her children: James (Barbara) of Waterflow, New Mexico, Tom (Hilary) of Berthoud, Colo., Dale (Becky) of Kirtland, New Mexico, Bruce (Rikki) of Alamosa, Colo., Lisa (Craig) Trautwein of Wiggins, Colo. and Mark (Sonia) of Flora Vista, New Mexico. Survivors also include her brothers Robert Johnson of Omaha, NE and Carl (Karen) Johnson of Fisher, Illinois. She was greatly loved by her 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Ethel enjoyed a long nursing career in the San Luis Valley where she touched the lives of patients, families and colleagues. Ethel was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, spreading the Gospel to every life she touched. She was also involved in the Donor Alliance and had numerous loving and caring friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oris, daughter Peggy and granddaughter Sheena.
A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alamosa. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date next to her husband in the Fairview Cemetery in Salida. The family requests that donations be made in Ethel’s name to either Donor Alliance or to Trinity Lutheran Church.
