Big changes coming for Berthoud’s Pioneer Park
The Parks and Open Space Committee meeting last week opened with a presentation P.J. DiPentino. He introduced Alan Wasson, who will be taking over as the director for the BMX track. DiPentino came to ask the committee to recommend some level of support from the town for track maintenance. He described the benefits of the track for the town and the number of hours he spent marinating the track. Berthoud Police Beat, March 2010
Monday, March 1 Police responded to an early morning verbal disturbance in the 200 block of Second Street. The situation was handled by the officer. A report of fraud came in from the 200 block of Victoria Street. The woman had received an email trying to lure her into being a “WalMart Secret Shopper.” This is a well-known fraud and is even profiled on the WalMart website. Serious accident at Highway 287 intersection
Demolished Subaru at the northeast corner of the intersection of US Highway 287 and Mountain Avenue. Berthoud emergency personnel responded to a report of a four-car motor vehicle accident on US Highway 287 at State Highway 56 on Wednesday afternoon. The accident happened a few minutes before 4 p.m. and scattered car parts and broken glass over a wide area of the usually busy intersection. Keith Burgess had a ringside seat for the accident. Alex Sabados, 14, died March 24, 2010 at his home following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 26, 1996 in Boulder to David and Julia (Stepniowska) Sabados. Alex attended Berthoud Elementary school and was currently in the 8th grade at Turner Middle School in Berthoud. Gertrude Ellen Beckner, 89 of Bremerton, Washington, Jan. 17, 1921 to March 14, 2010 Gertie passed away March 14th at Ashley Gardens due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
