Berthoud drops to 0-2 after 49-28 loss By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer Crisp and clear with a very slight breeze out of the north; it was one of those picture-perfect evenings for football on the high plains. Unfortunately for the Berthoud Spartans football team, the weather was the only pleasant thing about Friday evening. Obituary: Leo Dick

Leo Dick: September 10, 1921 – March 2, 2010 Leo Dick, 88, of Longmont, passed away March 2, 2010 at his home. He was born September 10, 1921 in Padroni, Colorado to Samuel and Elizabeth (Roah) Dick. He grew up on the family farm. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 – 1945 during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Radioman Second Class. Lady Spartans eke out win over Sterling Tigers

After trailing for much of the game, the Berthoud girls pulled out a win this evening by besting the Sterling Tigers 38 -35. The Tigers controlled the tip and scored quickly. Amy Loberg came right back and tied the score. The next four minutes was all Sterling as they ran their score to 9 while Berthoud was unable to find the hoop. Spartan Wrestlers get ready for regionals

By Denise Schump The Spartan grapplers hit the road on Thursday to battle the Sterling Tigers in the last regional dual meet of the season. With Sterling’s three open weights and Berthoud’s eight state ranked wrestlers, the Tigers did not have much of a chance. Berthoud boys win over Sterling in overtime

Sterling overcame a 7-point deficit in the first half to force the Spartans into overtime, but Berthoud prevailed in the overtime when Greg Hutchins sank a 3 pointer with less than 3 seconds remaining on the clock. This was a great win for the Spartans over a previously undefeated team that was ranked eighth in the state and second in standing in the league.
