A day at the Fair
The Ranch was bustling on Saturday, the first full day of the 2010 edition of the Larimer County Fair. Tractors, splashing dogs, running pigs and plenty of venders lined the promenade as the carnival rides created a colorful back drop to the days activities. The livestock has moved into the Ranchway Feed Pavilions, the alpacas came on Saturday afternoon, the last animals to arrive. Going for the Gold
By P.J. DiPentino Aug 7, 2010 Three local BMX riders competed in the Rocky Mountain State Games last weekend in Colorado Springs. All three come home from the three-day event with medals. Nine-year-old Phillip DiPentino, known locally as the Flying Meatball, took top honors in his age group with gold, silver and bronze medals. Sculpture in Loveland
Two of the grandest shows on earth are taking place in Loveland this weekend as artists from all over the world converge on the Sweetheart City. The Sculpture in the Park show is in its 27th year and features over 170 artists and 2,000 pieces of sculpture. The venue is Benson Park and the hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Across the street at Loveland High School is the 19th Loveland Sculpture Invitational. Obituary: Marina V. Seering
Marina V. Seering, age 99, (working on a 100), of Berthoud went to heaven on July 23, 2010 at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland. Born in the Dominican Republic, immigrated in 1929 and became a naturalized citizen in 1943. Married and later divorced from Vincent LaRaque, they had three children, Denis (deceased military), Yvonne L. Dawdy (Jack) of Berthoud, and Gabriel LaRaque of California. Hepatitis at Grand Lake Restaurants
Grand County Public Health announced that a case of hepatitis A in a food worker employed at two Grand Lake, Colorado restaurants, Sagebrush BBQ & Grill and Max & T’s Bar and Grill, has been confirmed. Both restaurants have had very good records of inspections in the past and both are cooperating in the investigation. There are no other confirmed cases of hepatitis A at this time. New teachers sit in class today
teachers for Thompson School District arrived at Mountain View High High School for a day of orientation on Thursday.
