Teen in critical condition after crash south of Berthoud

A teen is in critical condition following a serious crash south of Berthoud on Wednesday evening.
Steven Berger, 16, was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee on County Road 4E just before 6 p.m. when he attempted to turn onto southbound U.S. 287 and was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Suburban, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
At 4:01 p.m., Berthoud CARES reported that “One of the teens involved in the accident has succumbed this afternoon.”
