2011 Thompson Robotics EXPO Saturday

A VEX Robot

Opening Ceremonies at 10 AM for the 2011 Thompson Robotics EXPO Saturday October 29, 2011

Seventy-eight teams from the Thompson School District, around the state, and Utah will converge on Loveland High this Saturday, October 29 for the 5th Annual Thompson Robotics EXPO.  The event will include a FIRST® LEGO® League scrimmage for grades 3-8, a VEX Robotics Qualifier for Worlds, grades 6-12, and a variety of exhibits.

SparkFun from Boulder, a creator and reseller of pieces and parts for electronic projects, will be there to show us that electronics aren’t just for gadgets, but also fashion, and is accessible to the average person. Back again this year, weather permitting, are the underwater remote operated vehicles that were a hit last year. Career and Technical Training, LLC will also be back.

A group from Big T Elementary will be bringing us their Junior FIRST LEGO League creations. Truscott Elementary will be showing us a robot game, Save the Bay, a project of the Navy, which was used in schools in Maryland. We are hoping to have SHARC, the Greater Denver Robotics Club back to show us some of their handiwork as well as get a glimpse of Loveland High’s FRC robot.

There are rumors that Road Narrow’s Genibo robotic dog plans to sneak back. Since there will be vehicles for the land and sea, there is talk of perhaps a peek at something airborne.

Explore your inner geek and join in. Come hungry, because the Pizza, all being made locally by Blackjack Pizza, benefits the Loveland High Robotics Club. Opening ceremonies start at 10, last competition ends at 4pm. Free admission.
