LDS Church Announces Temple for Fort Collins

Fort Collins, Colorado – April 2, 2011 – The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today announced the construction of a temple in Fort Collins.  The temple will serve the needs of over 20,000 Church members in northern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming.  It is expected that when completed the Fort Collins Colorado Temple may occupy approximately 17,000 square feet on land yet to be announced in Fort Collins. Crystal Fire Community Meeting Scheduled

April 3,  1:45 p.m. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office will host a community meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Big Thompson Elementary School at 7702 West Highway 34 to update evacuated residents on the status of the fire and the evacuations.  We anticipate having some preliminary damage assessments to discuss at that meeting.  Representatives from the American Red Cross and United Way will also be on hand to provide information and assistance. Crystal Fire blows up to 2,000 acres

Shortly after midnight the Larimer County Emergency Information Center announced that the Crystal Fire has blown up with sustained 50 mph winds and evacuations had been ordered. At that time the fire was estimated at 800 to 1100 acres with no containment. Emergency phone notifications went out to approximately 40 residences in the Stringtown Gulch area of the Buckhorn Canyon.   Larimer County Sheriff's Office Press Release   April 2, 5 p.m. The Crystal Fire in Larimer County remains at about 20 to 25 acres with approximately 25% to 30% containment. Again this afternoon, winds remained relatively calm providing firefighters an opportunity to continue to contain the fire. One structure, containing an ATV and a motorcycle, was destroyed earlier today. The vehicles were also destroyed. No additional structures are threatened at this time and no evacuations ...
