By Thomas N Mixing superb movies, a pleasant atmosphere and the beauty of Vail Colorado, the 2011 Vail Film Festival was a truly special event. The Festival was hosted at the Sebastian Hotel, an elegant resort with snazzy furnishings, a warm atmosphere and an accommodating staff. Films were shown at both the Sebastian and The Cinebistro; a fusion of luxurious cinema and a bistro. Governor declares disaster emergency for Crystal Fire
DENVER — Monday, April 4, 2011 — Gov. John Hickenlooper issued a disaster emergency declaration today for the Crystal Fire in Larimer County. This declaration will authorize $1.7 million in state aid to help pay firefighting costs. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs. Crystal Fire: April 4 (Update)
Update 5 p.m., Larimer County Sheriff's Office Firefighters put in good effort today building containment lines around the fire. An updated containment percentage and total number of acres will not be available until tomorrow morning after crews finish updating information tonight. The latest information is available on the U.S. Forest Service's Incident Information website at www.inciweb.org/incident/2161. Fire at Pioneer Sand and Gravel
The Crystal Fire may be larger, but there was some excitement in Berthoud on Saturday afternoon as firefighters responded to a fire Pioneer Sand Company. David and Julie Dowen of Mead happened to be on had to takes some photos. According to Ms. Dowen, the desk clerk told her that a customer had come into the office and said, "Hey, your mulch is on fire." The call went out to Berthoud Fire who responded to cool things off.
