Obituary: David “Wayne” Harris

Funeral FlowersDavid “Wayne” Harris, 78, of Berthoud passed away on May 11, 2014 in Berthoud, CO. Wayne was born on November 15, 1935 in Fincastle, Virginia to Russell and Naomi (Rucker) Harris. He grew up in Fincastle and graduated from Fincastle High School. On July 28, 1969, Wayne married Kaye Short in Goodland, Kansas.

Wayne spent time as a truck driver before working as a Pipeline Superintendent in the late 1970’s for the Dale Bruntz Construction Co. and the Kelran Construction Co. for over 20 years before retiring from Nex-Gen Construction Co. His passion was raising and training Australian Shepherds. As a Herding Judge for the AKC, ASCA and IESR, Wayne traveled all over the U.S. and as far as Germany. Wayne was loved by all who knew him, he was strong and big-hearted, a true cowboy with a good sense of humor.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kaye; son Brian (Lisa) Harris of Johnstown; grandchildren Breauna (Robert) Gildea of Brighton; and great grandchildren Raegyn and Rylan Gildea of Brighton.
