Anton (Tony) Tysdal, 93, of Berthoud died early Thursday morning at Windsor Healthcare Center. Tony was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Linn Grove, Iowa to Ole and Marie Tysdal. He served in the Navy during World War II as a gunner’s mate and was at Pearl Harbor shortly after it was attacked by the Japanese. He married Marjorie Kell on March 23, 1944 in Hampton, Iowa. He worked as a conductor for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Iowa and excelled as a carpenter, building their home in Eagle Grove, ... Full Story

Assisted by Pathways Hospice and her daughter, Dorothy, Lillian R. Meade traveled a gentle passage through death into the presence of her Lord on Monday, May 25. A native of New Jersey, Meade move to Hobe Sound, Fla., from Toms River, where she lived with her second husband, F. Paul Meade, for 19 years before moving to Ocean Palms Independent Living in Stuart, Fla. There they enjoyed participating in all the activities for many more years. Tony Rodriguez, 51, of Berthoud passed away at McKee Medical Center on May 17.  He was born Jan. 22, 1958, in San Barbara, Mexico to Roman and Micaela (Castro) Rodriguez. He moved to Berthoud from Mexico 40 years ago and worked in general construction in the area for many years. Rodriguez liked hiking and walking his dogs. A short time later he and 186 men of the 4th Division, Company I, were marching through Europe, digging foxholes and trenches, engaging in combat, fighting and dying. Only 13 returned. Ronald Alverson Born Jan. 7, 1942 in Lincoln, Neb. to Harry and Agnes Alverson, he moved to Colorado in 1957 and graduated from Boulder High School in 1959. Sam Withrow, 68 years young, passed away April 27 at his home in Berthoud. He is survived by his wife Christine, his only child Hope Withrow, and beloved siblings Bud, Paul, Rose, Dick, and Ruth. A celebration of Withrow’s life with family and friends will be held May 30 in Fullerton, Calif. A U.S. Navy burial ceremony will be conducted in San Diego at a later date.

She is survived by her mother June Elijah, daughter Clarissa Norris, son-in-law Todd Norris, and her grandchildren, Tionna, Tinaya and Triston Norris. Audrey Zorna, 85, of Berthoud, died March 24, 2009, at Berthoud Living Center. She was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Waterbury, Conn. to Frederick H. and Ruth Spencer (Hotchkiss) Bosworth. Audrey married Joseph R. Zorna on Feb. 1, 1944, and celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. She moved to Boulder in 1966 and lived there until 1984 while working as a nurse in the OB/GYN department at Boulder Community Hospital. She later moved to Berthoud in 2002. Martin F. Spiess of Berthoud, 89, formerly of Loveland, passed away on March 23, 2009. He was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Pleasant Valley, Kan. to Charles G. and Agnes (Miller) Spiess. He worked at Woodward Governor in Fort Collins, where he met Fern Agnes Fangmeier. They were married Feb. 1, 1964 in Fort Collins.
