Fire Claims Life of Berthoud Man

***Updated *** By Recorder Staff A Berthoud man was killed in a fire at his Mountain Avenue apartment on Thursday, March 19 at approximately 7:30 a.m. Berthoud Fire Protection District and Loveland Fire Rescue Department responded to the blaze, which damaged two converted garage apartments occupied by 49-year-old James Hastings and his sister Lucinda Hastings. An Up-Close Look at Town's Water Treatment Plants

The water brought from the Berthoud reservoir goes through a series of purification stages before making its way to residents’ faucets. Spring Break Well-Spent

Three Berthoud High School students participated in an alternative spring break event last Monday, March 16. These girls, along with 22 other Larimer County youth, spent 12 hours last Monday volunteering for Larimer County nonprofits and learning about poverty and homelessness in our community.   The students helped to assemble hygiene kits at the Murphy Center for Hope in Fort Collins. Scholastic Contest Highlights Colorado's Lincoln

Governor Ritter's Lincoln Bicentennial Commission is sponsoring a Scholastic Contest that invites Colorado students of all ages to imagine Lincoln as their model. Competitions will take place, and awards made, in the seven congressional districts of the state.
