Ronald Alverson Born Jan. 7, 1942 in Lincoln, Neb. to Harry and Agnes Alverson, he moved to Colorado in 1957 and graduated from Boulder High School in 1959. He later married Mary Ann (Parrish) Alverson on April 15, 1960 in Boulder. Alverson was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and soon to be great-grandfather. Obituary: Sam Withrow

Sam Withrow, 68 years young, passed away April 27 at his home in Berthoud. He is survived by his wife Christine, his only child Hope Withrow, and beloved siblings Bud, Paul, Rose, Dick, and Ruth. A celebration of Withrow’s life with family and friends will be held May 30 in Fullerton, Calif. A U.S. Navy burial ceremony will be conducted in San Diego at a later date.

Obituary: Melvin Brown

Melvin “Mel” Walter Brown of Johnstown died on April 24 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He was 83. He was born July 3, 1925 to Robert and Cora (Niven) Brown, on the family farm southwest of Johnstown. His father died in August 1941 of injuries sustained from a runaway team of horses, and his family moved into town after that. Zenda Lee Vella died Sunday, April 5 at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties following a horse riding accident. She was 55. Born on July 22, 1953, in Longmont, she was the daughter of Richard Lee and Betty Jean Hall. In 1965 her family moved to Tennessee. After graduating high school and receiving her associate degree at Webber College in Florida, Zenda returned to Colorado in 1977. Cynthia June Elijah McDonald, 63, of Loveland died April 18 after a bout with cancer. She is survived by her mother June Elijah, daughter Clarissa Norris, son-in-law Todd Norris, and her grandchildren, Tionna, Tinaya and Triston Norris. McDonald lived a very simple life and played wonderfully, by ear, many different instruments, including the keyboard, piano, accordion and harmonica. Orlene Marie Graves, 80, died Wednesday, April 8 at Holiday Resort in Emporia, Kan. She was born on Oct. 14, 1928 in Haven, Kan., to Mary and Orla Koontz. She graduated from haven High School in 1946. She had one sister, Eunice Pankow, and three brothers: Paul, Earl and Darwyn. They are all deceased. She married John T. (Jack) Graves on Dec. 1, 1946. Katherine F. Baker, 84, of Berthoud passed away on April 12 at Pathways Hospice Care in Loveland. She was born Aug. 18, 1924 in Thomson, Ill., to Jerry and Dora (Maring) Wiebenga. She married William Edward Baker on June 13, 1941. She was a nutritionist with the Newport Mesa School District in California and a homemaker.
