Boy Scout Plans to build Public Bench

By Thomas N. Kevin Yannutz, after just three years as a Boy Scout, is working on becoming an Eagle Scout. To earn the rank of Eagle Scout requires a minimum of 21 merit badges and the planning, managing, and directing of an extensive community project. Yannutz came up with the idea for his project after he noticed several parents waiting for their children near the Berthoud Pool and having no place to sit. Tragedy in Berthoud

Slightly less that a year after the death of Alex Sabados, Turner Middle School students face yet another tragedy. The Sheriffs Department said that they were called to rural Berthoud on Friday morning to the scene of an unattended death. In a letter sent to parents, Principal Bill Siebers had this to say, Dear TMS Parents/Guardians It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that one of our Turner Students, Nicole Bauer,  passed away this morning. Boys and Girls Teams Commemorate 2010-11 Seasons By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer With the 2010-11 seasons in the books, the boys and girls basketball teams gathered at Berthoud High on Wednesday evening to commemorate their seasons. Sam Schleiger gets “Teacher Tuesday” award

Sam Schleiger, a 2003 graduate of Berthoud High School is now a teacher in nearby Milliken. Schleiger was recently honored by country radio station K99 for the "Teacher Tuesday Award". Brian Gary and Susan Moore from K99 came to Milliken Elementary School where Sam teaches 5th grade and surprised him with the award during an all-school assembly.
