Selling health insurance across state lines

Selling health insurance across state lines

To the Editor, Republicans want to scrap Obamacare and, instead, allow the sale of health insurance policies across state lines, claiming that increased competition will lead to lower premiums. Will it? Let’s review a parallel history of credit card interest rates. Back in the 1970s, if you wanted a credit card, you went to your local bank. States set maximum interest rates of around 12%. In the 1980s, Congress and the Reagan Administration allowed credit cards to be issued across ... Full Story

How California Is Debunking The GOP’s Obamacare Talking Points By Sy Mukherjee On Thursday, California officials revealed insurance companies’ opening bids for the state’s Obamacare marketplace in 2014. The numbers are great for consumers — and terrible for right-wing fear mongering over the health law. Because contraception makes it possible to control the timing and spacing of pregnancy and childrearing, it gives both women and ... Full Story

Clear choice for health care

Clear choice for health care

As a family physician over the past 30 years I have seen the consequences of insurance delayed care, denied care, more frequent hospital admissions and deaths of the uninsured, and more illness related bankrupties than I care to remember. For many of our citizens the quality of care is unsurpassed, but currently 50 million citizens are uninsured with huge difficulties in accessing medical care. Voters! Look carefully at what Senator Bennett and Mr. Buck prescribe for you health ... Full Story
