Monday, March 1 Police responded to an early morning verbal disturbance in the 200 block of Second Street. The situation was handled by the officer. A report of fraud came in from the 200 block of Victoria Street. The woman had received an email trying to lure her into being a “WalMart Secret Shopper.” This is a well-known fraud and is even profiled on the WalMart website. Police Beat: Oct. 22, 2009

Tuesday, Oct. 13 A Ninth St. resident complained, “Barking dog in the back yard won’t stop.” All was quiet when the officer arrived. Police assisted when an off-duty police officer reported a hit-and-run incident on I-25. Police were unable to locate a careless driver at Berthoud High School. The silver SUV was reported to have been speeding in the parking lot and driving the wrong direction in a one-way zone.  (more…)

Tuesday, Oct. 6 Police responded to suspicious activity at the First Baptist Church on Bunyan Ave. but found no criminal violation. Several warnings and one summons were issued after traffic stops. An officer responded to the report that five kids were tearing up the basketball hoop at the First United Methodist Church. The officer reported that he found no signs of vandalism. Tuesday, Sept. 29 A report is due on a harassment call at the Berthoud Living Center. Police gave a verbal warning to individuals involved in a verbal disturbance at a business in the 1000 block of Second Street. Wednesday, Oct. 30 The Berthoud Conoco reported a counterfeit $10 bill. A woman came to the police station and asked for an officer to accompany her to retrieve her wallet. Tuesday, Sept. 15 Police took an intoxicated male into custody at 3:30 a.m. A vehicle parked at Berthoud High School was sideswiped by a hit and run driver. The collision left maroon paint on the parked vehicle. A woman found a brown wallet lying in the street and turned it into the Berthoud Police. Ten minutes later the wallet was being returned to its owner at Berthoud High School. Police again responded to the barking Chihuahuas on east Nebraska Avenue but once again it was “Quiet on ... Tuesday, Sept. 8 A Beagle was found running loose in the 1400 block of Oak Drive. The dog had a collar with a Town license and a rabies tag, which enabled the police to deliver the dog to the owner on Third Street and issue him a summons. A Seventh Street resident reported that his 8-week old black and white puppy was missing. He did not know whether the puppy had gotten loose or had been stolen. The puppy was wearing a pink collar. Tuesday, Sept. 1 A resident of the 1000 block of Sixth Street made another call concerning weeds in a neighboring yard. A school bus driver reported hay in the turn lane at west County Road 8 and Highway 287. Police found nothing when they arrived 10 minutes later. Police responded to a barking dog call in the 1200 block of Cedar Avenue. There had been two priors at this location. Police Beat: Sept. 3, 2009

Tuesday, Aug. 25 Vandalism at Berthoud High School was the subject of an 8:30 a.m. call. A drinking fountain had been ripped from the wall in the varsity boy’s locker room on the previous day. A female driver reported that another female driver was trying to ram into her car. The report came from the vicinity of U.S. Highway 287 and County Road 10E. Police Beat: Aug. 27, 2009

Tuesday, Aug. 18 An east Nebraska Avenue resident reported finding a female child in his yard in late afternoon. The child did not know where she lived. It only took the police about three minutes to find out that the child lived on east Iowa and had left the yard while her mother took a nap. Police responded to a complaint about trash piled around the Berthoud Living Center.
