He was born on Dec 24, 1924 in Valverde, a truck farming area west of the South Platte River in Denver, to Frank P. and Lois E. (Merman) Macdonald. Raleigh Nathaniel Alford, Jr. 77, died Feb. 9, 2011, in Berthoud, Colo. Raleigh was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Montrose to Henry and Opal (Marshall) Burrows. Berthoud Veterans place flags at cemetery
Berthoud Lions Club veterans did not let the weather deter them from putting up flags at the Greenlawn cemetery in honor of Veterans Day. The twice-yearly event (Memorial Day and Veterans Day) has been done for so many years that none of the participants can remember when it started. Curtis Wilson said he may have been in the original group, but couldn’t be sure. John Erickson honored for service to Berthoud Fire
The Special District Association of Colorado (SDA) recently awarded its Board Member of the Year to John Erickson for his service to the Berthoud Fire Protection District. The SDA awards several Distinguished Board Member Awards each year, but only one board member is chosen to receive the Board Member of the Year Award. This year that honor went to Erickson. Flags and Flowers commemorate Memorial Day at
Lions Club members Sam MacDonald, John Bona, Curtis Wilson, Mike Waldo and Jon Erickson placed 14 flags at Greenlawn Cemetery early on Monday morning. The annual observance of Memorial Day was marked by the Berthoud Lions Club putting up a row of flags at Greenlawn Cemetery. 9Health Fair Coming to Berthoud
The 9Health Fair will be coming to Berthoud High School on April 10, 7 a.m. to noon. There are some changes for this year. The Berthoud Lions Club is the host, but there will be no pre-registration offered in Berthoud. The entry will now be at the main entrance on Spartan Avenue and some of the tests will be in different rooms than have been used in the past.
