Obituary: Kent S. Fry

Kent S. Fry passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Berthoud Living Center. He was 85. He was born on Oct. 23, 1923, in Roundhead, Ohio, to Ivan and Ruth Fry. Kent proudly served his country in the U. S. Army, 3rd Infantry, in World War II. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1275 in Lima, Ohio. Kent worked as a refrigeration technician for S&S Products and Pepsi Cola in Lima, retiring from Pepsi. He had a passion for antique flywheel engines and tractors, restoring several ... Full Story

Obituary: Lloyd C. Conder

Lloyd Carl Conder passed peacefully with his family on Aug. 8 at the Life Care Center of Longmont. He was 83. Born on Aug. 11, 1925, to Carl and Opal Conder, he was a life long resident of Berthoud. Conder is survived by his sister Darlene (Bob) Botos of Loveland; daughter Glenda Conder of Louisville, and son Allen Conder of Casper, Wyo.; granddaughter Alisha (Michael) Conder, and great-grandson Tyler of Denver and several nieces and nephew. Obituary: Earl D. Sterkel

Earl D. Sterkel of Berthoud went to join the Lord on Tuesday, July 28 at Longmont United Hospital following complication after open-heart surgery. Sterkel was born in Loveland to Jacob and Christina Hohnstien Sterkel on March 8, 1940. He attended Loveland Schools and graduated with the class of 1958 from Loveland High School. The basics start with speeders and those who roam around with expired license plates. The latter infraction has recently become a very costly choice. Sarah Burgess, the daughter of Rodney and Linda Burgess of Berthoud and Jamason Schmidt, the son of the late Barry Schmidt and Mary Schmidt of Berthoud are pleased to announce their engagement. Joyce Eleanor Scott, age 83, went to be with the Lord after a long courageous fight with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on Nov. 10, 1926 in Hastings, Mich., to Karl F. and Florence J. Henderson Eckardt of Lake Odessa, Mich. Scott attended school in Woodland, Mich., and graduated from high school in 1944. She attended a college in Naperville, Ill., for two years and she and her cousin came to Denver to earn their degrees as a Medical Technologist, working at Denver General Hospital. While ... Pauline Laber, 93, of Longmont, passed away Monday, July 13 at her home. She was born June 28, 1916 in Berthoud to George and Elizabeth Seader. Laber grew up in Brighton and graduated from eighth grade at Tonville School. She moved to the Longmont area in 1939 from Brighton and latter married Alex Laber on Oct. 1, 1939 in Berthoud. Lewis Vernon French, 85, of Berthoud, died July 19, in Longmont. French was born on March 12, 1924, in Longmont, to Lewy and Ruth (Henderson) French. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1942 and attended Frye Aircraft School in Denver before becoming a farmer in the Berthoud area. On Dec. 20, 1943, he married Shirley Buehler of Berthoud. She was born on June 25, 1926, in Mendon, Mo., to Leo E. and Lela Belle (Jackson) Shults. She graduated from high school in Idaho Springs, Colo., in 1944.
